In July, we initially identified a site option for the proposed Heatburg substation and 144 kV lines in SE15, 37-23-4. After public consultation, we have decided to investigate two additional preliminary sites, located in proximity to Highway 21.

We have selected options that:

• Avoid homes and minimize impacts on residences
• Minimize impacts on significant vegetation such as wind breaks and valued trees
• Minimize impacts on built-up areas, highways,
• agricultural, oil and gas operations and communication facilities
• Minimize impacts to environmentally sensitive areas such as watercourses, wet or steep areas, wildlife habitat and other sensitive areas such as designated historical sites

Taking into consideration what we have learned through consultations, ATCO Electric will examine the two additional preliminary site options in comparison to the initial site and evaluate each in order to select a preferred site.
