Overview

The proposed Pemukan to Hansman Lake Transmission Project is part of the larger Hanna Region Transmission Development. If approved, the project will include:

  • Constructing approximately 30 kilometres (km) of new transmission line from the proposed new Pemukan substation extending north to the AltaLink service territory boundary where it will be continued by AltaLink for an additional 30 km to the Hansman Lake substation
  • Constructing approximately 10 km of new, double-circuit transmission line from the existing Monitor substation to the new Pemukan substation
  • Reterminating an existing line at the proposed new Pemukan substation

Public Involvement

ATCO Electric has incorporated feedback obtained during consultations to identify a preferred and alternate route for the Pemukan to Hansman LakeTransmission Project.

If you have an interest in lands located on or beside a preferred or alternative route you will be contacted by an ATCO Electric representative to discuss questions about the project.

This second round of personal consultations began in October 2010. During these meetings, ATCO Electric representatives will provided specific details about the proposed right-of-way location and construction methods. Feedback will be used to refine the route to further reduce potential impacts. Route refinements typically involve localized adjustments to the line location or position of structures in response to newly identified concerns or constraints.

If you are not in the vicinity of selected routes, you will not be contacted during our second round of personal consultations.

When consultations have been completed and the routes have been finalized, ATCO Electric will submit a facilities application to the Alberta Utilities Commission to obtain approval for the construction and operation of the proposed new facilities.

If you would like to provide more information or have questions about the project please contact us.
